Coping with power outage and calamities through communication and technology.

Typhoon Glenda, a “disaster” which we can describe, visits our country last week. We all know it’s just like a usual typhoon but we are all wrong. Surprisingly, she made a massive destruction mostly in the area of Southern Luzon.  I am sleepless and frightened in the middle of the night because of the strong wind shattering our windows and the heavy rain.

The loss of power supply also means a loss of communication. And the signals of the telecom networks are weak. For us to have signals and try reaching our extended family we need to find places that have signals. Electricity is our most needed because we need to supply the machine needed by our grandfather. Our generator is our “Meralco”, that time our supplier of electricity to clean easily the mess left by the typhoon, work with light and not in dark. My family and my cousins clean our compound and with this we get closer, we call this day “bonding moment”.

Things may happen unexpectedly, though things are prepared but the disaster may come in strong and hit nature like this the end. Faith and hope is always must have, stay with your family and be strong for them God is with us.
